Falmouth selectmen support removal of wind turbines

January 30 – Following a public meeting in which Falmouth residents spoke overwhelmingly in favor of removing wind turbines erected two years ago, the Board of Selectmen voted to support a warrant article to dismantle the turbines. Residents will vote at the town’s April 9 special election.

Citing the impact to neighbors who suffer from serious sleep disturbances, adverse health effects, and depreciating values of their homes, Selectman David Braga said “industrial-sized turbines don’t belong in residential neighborhoods.” The estimated cost to the town will be $400,000 to dismantle the two turbines.
